history

The manor house in Kruszyn. Today a school.

In the middle of the 17th century the Melchjor Krusiński estate was owned. After his death, Kruszyn and Pawłówek inherited his daughter Anna Krusińska, who was married to Ludwik Lewalt Jezierski. The family ceded the property to Swiętosław Orzelski, the son of Aleksander Orzelski, in 1642. After 1720 the village was bought by Count Wojciech Bniński. In the middle of the 19th century the Bniński family sold the estate to Hipolit Grabowski. At the end of the century it belonged to the Weckwarth family, who built a manor house here in 1882 . In 1905 the estate was handed over by the widow Boltz to the Prussian Settlement Commission, which settled 26 families here and converted the mansion into a school. On October 23, 1911, it was converted from the Adlig Kruschin estate to the Kruschdorf community. At the beginning of the 20th century, green sand was mined near the village . In the place are the remains of the Polish defenses from September 1939, in which the Polish 15th Infantry Division repulsed the attacks of the German 50th Infantry Division from September 2nd to 3rd . During the Second World War , the manor house was used as a warehouse for the female Reich Labor Service . Between January 24th and 26th, 1945 bloody fighting took place near the place between units of the Red Army and the Waffen-Fusilier-Battalion of the SS 15 of the 15th Waffen SS Grenadier Division "Latvia" .
