Krzysztof Kciuk (born June 11, 1980 in Katowice ) is a Polish dart player who competes in tournaments of the BDO and qualification tournaments of the PDC and uses the nickname "The Thumb".
Career
The first major darts tournament in which Kciuk took part was the Polish edition of the Bulls Super League in 2009, in which he immediately reached the semi-finals. By winning the PDC World Poland Qualifying Event in November 2009, he became the first Pole to qualify for a PDC World Darts Championship . In 2010 he failed in the preliminary round with 1: 4 legs to Haruki Muramatsu . Together with his compatriot Krzysztof Ratajski he took part in the first edition of the World Cup of Darts 2010 , where the Poles lost 2: 6 legs to the New Zealand darts players. In addition to these PDC tournaments, Kciuk began in 2010 to take part in tournaments of the competing association BDO . In 2013 , Kciuk again took part with Ratajski in the Darts Nations World Cup, where the Poles got beyond the group phase and failed in the second round to Germany. Kciuk took part in qualifying tournaments of the PDC for events such as the International Darts Open or the European Darts Trophy in 2016 and 2017 in vain. At the BDO Polish Open , however, Kciuk was able to assert himself a second time after 2012, up to the quarter-finals. In the same year Kciuk took part in the BDO World Masters for the first time , which ended for him in the round of the last 80. Kciuk barely missed a participation in the PDC World Darts Championship 2018 , as he lost to Alan Ljubic in the final of the East European Qualifier .
At the qualifying tournaments for the PDC European Tour , the Pole reached the last round several times at the beginning of 2018, but this was not enough for a Tour Card. The rest of the year turned out to be more successful for Kciuk, which he made it to the peloton at the World Masters , where he failed in the round of 32 against the British Dave Parletti . In October, Kciuk was able to win one of the four qualifying tournaments in the run-up to the BDO World Darts Championship 2019 , so that he took part in the preliminary round of the tournament. He reached the last sixteen, in which he had to admit defeat to Scott Mitchell 0: 4.
In 2020 he managed to win a Tour Card for the next two years at the European Q-School .
