Krzysztof Urbaniak (born May 5, 1984 in Turek ) is a Polish organist and harpsichordist , organ expert, editor of early music and university professor.

Urbaniak graduated in 2007 from the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw (now Fryderyk Chopin University of Music ) in the organ class of Józef Serafin and the harpsichord class of Leszek Kędracki. He graduated with distinction in 2010 from the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart in the organ class of Ludger Lohmann and the harpsichord class of Jörg Halubek (artistic training and concert exam). Between 2005 and 2016 he was the recipient of various grants. Urbaniak graduated from the Cracow Music Academy in 2012PhD. His habilitation followed in 2016 at the University of Music in Łódź. He is a prizewinner of international organ competitions and has made several CD recordings. An international concert activity has taken him to various European countries and Japan. He is a juror at various organ competitions, u. a. the International Schnitger Organ Competition in Alkmaar (2015, 2019) and the International Gottfried Silbermann Competition in Freiberg (2017).

As an organ expert , member of international organ commissions and as a board member of the Baltic Organ Center in Stralsund, Urbaniak has accompanied the restoration and reconstruction of historical organs, such as the Gröningen organ and the organ by Andreas Hildebrandt in Pasłęk . From 2013 to 2016 he was an organ expert at the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage . During the same period he was employed as artist in residence with the Filharmonia Łódzka . He is Professor of Organ at the State University of Music in Łódź and heads the Institute for Harpsichord, Organ, Church Music and Historical Instruments. He is a lecturer in improvisation and historical organ building at the Kraków Music Academy.

Together with Martin Rost , he published the long-lost chorale variations by the Danzig composer Daniel Magnus Gronau, including his registration rules , which represent the largest surviving collection of registrations from the 18th century.

Since 2018 he has been the curator of both organs of the Filharmonia Łódzka, he is the artistic director of the organ festival at the Hildebrandt organ in Pasłęk and the International Organ Days at the Hummel / Nitrowski organ in Olkusz.
