Kuang ( 矿区 , Kuàng Qū  - "mining district") was a Chinese municipality in the administrative area of ​​the prefecture-level city of Datong in the north of Shanxi Province . It had an area of ​​90 km² and at the end of 2015 had around 511,600 inhabitants.

The 2000 population census showed a total population of 460,714 people in 143,100 households, of whom 237,585 were men and 223,129 women.

Administrative structure

At the municipal level, the city district consisted of 28 street districts at the end of 2017 . These were Xinsheng (新 胜 街道), Xinpingwang (新 平 旺 街道), Meiyukou (煤 峪口 街道), Yongdingzhuang (永定 庄 街道), Tongjialiang (同 家 梁 街道), Silaogou (四 老 沟 街道), Xinzhouyao (忻州窑 街道), Baidong (白 洞 街道), Yanya (雁 崖 街道), Wajinwan (挖 金 湾 街道), Jinhuagong (晋华 宫 街道), Majiliang (马 脊梁 街道), Dadougou (大 斗 沟 街道), Wangcun (王村 街道), Jiangjiawan (姜 家湾 街道), Xinquanlu (新 泉 路 街道), Minsheng (民 胜 街道), Kouquan (口 泉 街道), Makou (马 口 街道), Yanzishan (燕子 山 街道), Xing 'ergou (杏儿 沟 街道), Qingciyao (青 磁窑 街道), Pingquanlu (平泉 路 街道), Sitaigou (四 台 沟 街道), Heshun (和顺 街道), Herui (和 瑞 街道), Pingshenglu (平 盛 路 街道) and Qingquanjie (清泉 街 街道).

The Chengqu District was dissolved in 2018. The new Yungang District was created from most of the Kuang area and parts of the Chengqu District , which was dissolved at the same time .
