Kubec Glasmon

Kubec Glasmon (born Jacob Glassman ; born August 12, 1897 in Ratibor , Upper Silesia , German Empire ; died March 13, 1938 in Los Angeles , California ) was a Polish American screenwriter from Upper Silesia .

Life

Born Jacob Glassman, he first worked as a pharmacist in Chicago , where he was naturalized on November 11, 1932. From the beginning of the 1930s he wrote the templates for around 20 films as a screenwriter in the Hollywood film industry .

With his debut The Public Enemy (1931) he was nominated at the Academy Awards in 1931 with John Bright for the Oscar in the category of best original story.

Other well-known films based on his originals were Easy Money (1931), The Scream of the Crowd (1932), Taxi! (1932) and Show Them No Mercy! (1936), where he worked with film directors such as William A. Wellman , Alfred E. Green , Roy Del Ruth and George Marshall .

However, the year of birth 1889 contradicts the information provided by LCCN that he died of a heart attack in 1938 at the age of 40, according to the NYTimes. IMDb names Raciąż as the place of birth.
