The Kuchtui ( Russian Кухтуй ) is a 384 km long tributary of the Sea of Okhotsk in the north of the Khabarovsk region .
River course
The Kuchtui rises in the Suntar Chajata Mountains at an altitude of about 1800 m . The Kuchtui flows in a southerly direction through the mountains to the sea. It finally flows into an estuary , on the banks of which is the urban-type Okhotsk settlement . Larger tributaries are the Chumnak from the right and the Osjorny and Gussinka from the left.
The catchment area of the Kuchtui is located in Okhotsk Rajon and covers an area of 8610 km². It borders on the Ulbeja to the east and that of the Ochota to the west . The mean discharge of the Kuchtui is 90 m³ / s. There is rafting on the river .
Fish fauna
The river is used as spawning water for various salmon fish . In the Kuchtui come u. a. following fish before: king salmon , sockeye , chum salmon , pink salmon , masu salmon , Coregonus ussuriensis , Thymallus pallasii , Prosopium cylindraceum , Arctic Norway , Dolly Varden trout ( Salvelinus malma ) Salvelinus white-spotted charr , steelhead trout , carp and gables and sticklebacks .
