The Kummelberg , also called Kummel , in the Harz low mountain range is 536 m above sea level. NHN high mountain on the border of the urban area of Bad Lauterberg to the community-free area Harz of the district of Göttingen ( Lower Saxony ).
Geographical location
The Kummelberg is located in the Upper Harz in the Harz Nature Park . It rises directly north of the core town of Bad Lauterberg and west of the Lauterberg district of Odertal , between the Oder in the east and its tributary Lutter in the west. The mountain has two peaks, which are about 150 m apart in a west-northwest-east-south-east direction: the west knoll is 536 m high and the east knoll about 535 m .
History and description
The Lauterberger Bismarck Tower has stood on the eastern tip of the wooded Kummelberg since 1904 , an approximately 15 m high observation tower , from whose observation platform (approx. 550 m above sea level ) the view falls, among other things, into the Harz landscape, down to Bad Lauterberg and into the Harz foreland.
