Location of Kummerow in Brandenburg

The formerly independent municipality of Kummerow , located on the Welse , was incorporated into the area of the city of Schwedt / Oder on January 1, 1998 , making it the most north-western part of Schwedt ( Brandenburg ).

In the 1970s, a completely preserved grave urn with the corpse burn, the remains of two accessory vessels and the iron jewelry were found on a hill here. The urn comes from the Iron Age (600 BC to 0) and came to the museum in Angermünde . Until 1945 Kummerow was part of the Prussian province of Pomerania .

The novels of the writer Ehm Welk : “ Die Heiden von Kummerow ” and “Die Gerechten von Kummerow” have nothing to do with the place directly; Since the author came from Biesenbrow, which is not far away (today part of the city of Angermünde), his stories could also have taken place here.
