Kunemund of Stutterheim

Kunemund von Stutterheim (born July 19, 1886 in Küstrin , † October 16, 1957 in Oberhausen ) was the first regional councilor and deputy to the governor of the former province of Silesia and chairman of the Silesian Red Cross .

family

Kunemund came from the Thuringian noble family von Stutterheim and was born as the son of the lieutenant colonel in Wernigerode von Stutterheim on July 19, 1886 in Küstrin in the former province of Brandenburg . He was married to Stephanie Countess zu Stolberg-Wernigerode (1889-1958).

Life

In 1904 he began his law studies at the Université de Lausanne , where he was active at the Société d'Étudiants Germania Lausanne , continued his studies at the universities of Freiburg, Munich and Halle ad Saale and completed this in 1907 with the legal traineeship. He then did military service, which he finished in 1910 as a lieutenant in the reserve of the Uhlan regiment "Emperor Alexander II of Russia" (1st Brandenburg) No. 3 in Fürstenwalde .

In the First World War he was wounded in 1914 and was most recently first orderly officer with the staff of the 203rd Infantry Division . He was named Rittmeister d. R. retired from military service.

From 1909 he worked as a government trainee and from 1912 as a government assessor at the district office of the Löwenberg district in Silesia . In 1919 he was promoted to government councilor in the high presidium of Breslau. From 1920 he was employed by the High Presidium in Opole and from 1921 to 1928 by the Silesian government in the capital Wroclaw . In 1933, he was there for the country's eunuchs appointed and in 1934 the county council elected the first Provincial Councilor and Deputy Regional Governor of Silesia. In addition, he was executive chairman of the Provincial Association of Silesia from the Red Cross .

He died on October 16, 1957 at the age of 71 in Oberhausen in North Rhine-Westphalia.

For his services, von Stutternheim received the following awards: the Iron Cross II and I Class, the Hamburg Hanseatic Cross , the Red Cross Medal , the Austrian Decoration of Honor for the Red Cross and the Silesian Eagle II and I Class.

He was a legal knight of the Order of St. John and a member of the Société d'Étudiants Germania Lausanne .
