action

Radha gives birth to a child, but when the child's father Vinod refuses to marry Radha, she lays the boy on the stairs of a temple. There the child is picked up by the poor rickshaw driver Mahesh. He lovingly takes the little boy in and gives him the name Hindustan .

It soon turns out that Hindustan gets polio due to the poor living conditions and poor hygiene . The doctor admonishes Mahesh, who is doing his best to look after the boy. Sheela comes to his aid.

The birth parents regret their deed and ask the police officer Ramesh to find their missing son. At the age of 12, Hindustan is united with his parents. Even so, Mahesh continues to fight to keep the boy. But he realizes that Hindustan's wealthy parents can pay for the necessary operation and take better care of him. After the operation, the three visit the rickshaw driver, who then dies.

After Mahesh's death, actor Mehmood stands up and explains to the audience that his death is only for the camera, but that polio occurs in real life and is fatal. He also called on parents to have their children vaccinated against it.
