The Point Alpha Prize is awarded for services to the unity of Germany and Europe in peace and freedom. It is awarded by the Kuratorium Deutsche Einheit eV at non-fixed intervals and is endowed with prize money of 25,000 €. The prize is named after the former US observation base and today's Point Alpha memorial on the Hessian inner-German border .

German Unity Board of Trustees

The Kuratorium Deutsche Einheit e. V. based in Geisa was founded on June 17, 2003. It sees itself as an association of committed citizens who work for international understanding and want to contribute to the promotion and consolidation of the free and democratic state in Germany.

In addition to the award ceremony, the non-profit association supports scientific projects, publications and events. 13 German personalities belong to the board of trustees. President is Christian Shepherd , Vice President Jürgen Aretz .
