Kurt Bürer

Kurt Bürer (born August 10, 1925 in Walenstadt ; † August 27, 2009 there , entitled to live in Walenstadt) was a Swiss politician (CVP) .

biography

Kurt Bürer, son of the building contractor Max Bürer and Maria Josefina Emilia née Cova, devoted himself to studying at the Technikum Winterthur after completing his Matura at the Bündner Kantonsschule , which he completed in 1947 with the academic degree of Dipl. Ing. HTL. In the same year Kurt Bürer and his brother Max took over the management of their father's construction company in Walenstadt, which he held until 1993. In the Swiss Army he served in the rank of colonel of the engineering troops .

Kurt Bürer - he married Hedwig in 1955, the daughter of the veterinarian and Cantonal Councilor Martin Wildhaber - died on August 27, 2009 two weeks after he had turned 84 in his hometown of Walenstadt.

Political career

Kurt Bürer - he was a member of the conservative People's Party, from 1970 CVP - was elected to the St. Gallen Grand Council in 1960, of which he was a member until 1976 and of which he was president in his last year in office . In 1975 he was elected to the National Council , in which he was subsequently represented for three terms. From 1977 to 1983 he was a member of the business audit committee.

Kurt Bürer was a leading member of various regional organizations, such as the Sarganserland valley community, the Unterterzen-Flumserberg aerial cableway, the Walenstadt water and electricity works, the Sarganserland printing company and the Gonzen-Rheintal radio . He was also a board member of the St. Gallen Trade Association and the Swiss Master Builders Association .
