Kurt Bussmann

Kurt Werner Heinrich Louis Bussmann (born September 3, 1894 in Gardelegen , † October 18, 1970 in Hamburg ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Bussmann attended the universities in Leipzig, Berlin, Munich and Hamburg , although his studies were interrupted between 1914 and 1918 by military service in the First World War. In 1922 he was promoted to Dr. iur. doctorate with the text "Name, Firma, Marke". He then worked as a lawyer - mainly in the field of commercial legal protection - and in 1923 became the fourth partner in the Hamburg law firm Pels , Wassermann & Fischer , for which he had worked since the previous year. From 1933 to 1941 he co-edited the magazine brand protection and competition . During the National Socialist era , he ran the industrial company Schülke & Mayr in trust. Because of an eye defect, he was no longer drafted during World War II.

Bussmann taught from 1941 as a lecturer, from 1949 as an adjunct professor and from 1969 finally as a professor for civil law, commercial law and industrial legal protection at the University of Hamburg .

Bussmann was a member of the Joachim Jungius Society of Sciences in Hamburg. From 1951 he sat on the board of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. He was also a member of the full board and executive committee of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright and was co-editor of its trade journal Commercial Legal Protection and Copyright (GRUR). Bussmann was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, whereby among other things his participation in an expert commission for copyright of the Federal Ministry of Justice, which was active from 1950 to 1954, was particularly emphasized.

Bussmann married in 1925 and had three children. He died in 1970 during the annual congress of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property.
