Kurt Christoph Graf von Königsmarck , also Conrad Christopher , (* March 24, 1634 , † October 31, 1673 near Bonn ) was a Swedish military master and statesman from the German noble family of the Königsmarck .

Kurt Christoph was the son of the Swedish field marshal Hans Christoph von Königsmarck and Agathe von Leesten.

Life

Despite the war, Königsmarck was educated scientifically, but joined the Swedish army at an early age, took part in the bloody battle of Warsaw in 1656 and in 1658 under Charles X's leadership in the transition over the frozen Belt to Funen , but was captured there by the Danes and came free only after the Peace of Roskilde .

After the death of his father (1663) he became vice governor of the Duchy of Bremen-Verden and commandant of Stade . During the siege of Bonn on October 10, 1673, he was killed by an "unfortunate" cannon shot, apparently by friends. In May 1674 the body appears to have been buried in Stade. The grave suffered the same devastation as that of the father.

Allegedly, although he was still a Swedish lieutenant governor, he was in the service of the States General, which is not very credible since Sweden was initially allied with France in the Dutch War .

From the division of his father's inheritance, he owned the castle at "Kochs Hof" in Altenlande and a house at Stade; plus half of the entire inheritance. He made charitable gifts of his wealth. For example for the Stade churches that burned down in 1659. The enormous loss of wealth due to the Swedish reduction in goods in 1686 was only experienced by his descendants.

family

Königsmarck, who is considered stately, was married to the beautiful Maria Christine von Wrangel , born in 1657 . on August 28th jul. / 7th September 1638 greg. , the daughter of the Reichsrat and Field Marshal Count Hermann von Wrangel , who owned Bremervörde's house and office from the condoned estates as a fief. Her mother was the Countess Amalie Magdalena von Nassau-Siegen . She moved to Stockholm after the death of the count , where she was born on July 17th . / December 27, 1691 greg. died.

Königsmarck left four famous children because of their beauty and stately:

Whether a Maria Dorothea d'Hollande von Königsmarck, who applied to the Hanover government in 1723 because of her father's inheritance claims, belonged to one of the illegitimate lines of Kurt Christophs von Königsmarck or Otto Wilhelm von Königsmarck cannot be established.
