Kurt Schöllhammer

Kurt Schöllhammer (born September 30, 1929 in Simmern ; † December 18, 1990 in Simmern / Hunsrück ) was a German politician. Among other things, he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament and mayor of the city of Simmern.

Life and activity

After graduating from the Realgymnasium in Simmern in 1949, Schöllhammer studied law in Mainz , Munich , Freiburg and Hamburg . He passed the legal traineeship exam in 1953. From 1954 to 1955, he completed in-depth training at the administrative school in Speyer . In 1957 he received his doctorate with a thesis on The Head of State as Commander-in-Chief for Dr. jur . He then worked as an assessor at various local courts in Rhineland-Palatinate.

In 1962 Schöllhammer was appointed regional judge at the Koblenz regional court . After he was elected mayor of the city and the community of Simmern in the Hunsrück in 1966 as the successor to Fritz Vollbracht , he held this office for nine years until 1975.

In 1975 Schöllhammer was elected to the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate for the SPD . In addition, he took on numerous honorary functions, such as a delegate in his district synod, the regional synod and the synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany, and also as a founding member of the Hunsrück Lions Club .

In 1983 Schöllhammer was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit and in 1988 with the Freiherr vom Stein plaque . A primary school is named after him in his home town.
