Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong (born December 19, 1974 in Glasgow , Scotland ) is the first professional Ghanaian ski racer . His nickname is "Snow Leopard".

Nkrumah-Acheampong worked in an indoor ski area in Milton Keynes and received free ski lessons as an employee. When he began to ski more professionally, he gave up this profession. Sponsorship money enabled him to train in France in the winter. Nkrumah-Acheampong began to participate in FIS races in 2005 , also contested four races in the South American Cup , and started in 2007 in the giant slalom of the World Championships in Åre . Due to his low FIS points, he had to compete in the qualifying race, which was held for the first time, in which he only crossed the finish line as the last of the 66 qualified qualifiers 1 minute and 17 seconds behind the winner (or 35 seconds behind the penultimate), and thus a participation in the actual World Cup race clearly missed. After further starts at FIS races, he also took part in the 2009 World Championships in Val-d'Isère . He also had to qualify this time and failed as third from last in giant slalom and last in slalom (but this time with a smaller gap) again to qualify for a main competition.

In FIS races, Nkrumah-Acheampong collected the necessary points to take part in the slalom and giant slalom competition at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver . He was the first Ghanaian who could qualify for the Olympic Winter Games . In the Whistler-Blackcomb ski area , he achieved 47th place in slalom, 43 seconds behind the winner Giuliano Razzoli, penultimate. He did not take part in the Olympic giant slalom. In 2011 Nkrumah-Acheampong started again in slalom and giant slalom at the World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . In the slalom qualification he finished third from bottom in 68th place and in the giant slalom qualification as fourth from bottom 96th. He was again unable to qualify for an actual World Championship race.
