Kwesi Browne (born January 31, 1994 in Arima ) is a cyclist from Trinidad and Tobago .
Athletic career
In 2014, Kwesi Browne won his first international medal when he finished third in the keirin at the Central American and Caribbean Games . At the Pan American Championship in Keirin 2016, he also came third. At the Pan-American Championships in 2016, he won the bronze medal in the Keirin , in the sprint he finished fourth. He then started the first two races of the Track Cycling World Cup in Glasgow and Apeldoorn .
In 2017, Browne won silver in the team sprint at the Pan-American Championships with Njisane Phillip and Nicholas Paul . The following year, Browne, Phillip, Paul and Keron Bramble won the Pan American title in this discipline. They also won the team sprint at the Central American and Caribbean Games , in the Keirin Browne took third place. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, he finished sixth in the team sprint together with Paul, Phillip and Keron Bramble. In the same constellation, the four riders from Trinidad and Tobago became Pan American champions in front of a home crowd at the National Cycling Center in Couva in 2018 and set a new America record with 42.681 seconds. The quartet also won the 2019 Pan American Games .
In December 2019, the team from Trinidad and Tobago was deprived of the gold medal and Phillip the silver medal of the Pan American Games 2019, because Philipp had tested positive for doping . Because of this decision, the chances fell for the team, the Olympic Games in Tokyo to qualify. Thereupon Browne and Phillip denied no further competitions, and the Canadian national coach Erin Hartwell left the association and moved to China .
Kwesi Browne and his teammate Nicholas Paul qualified in individual competitions for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo . They prepared for their start in Tokyo at the World Cycling Center in Aigle, Switzerland with coach Craig MacLean .
