Kylla Liisa Sjoman (born August 18, 1987 in New Westminster , British Columbia ) is a Canadian soccer player .
Life
Kylla was born in New Westminster as the daughter of the Finnish civil engineer Pentti Sjöman from Kajaani and his wife of British descent from Terrace , British Columbia . She grew up in Burnaby , British Columbia, where she attended Burnaby Central Secondary School from 2001 to 2005. She then studied exercise and wellness at Arizona State University from 2005 to 2010 .
Career
In the club
Sjoman started her active career at the age of 7 in the Giants ( G-Jugend ) team of Cliff Avenue United FC. She ran for a total of three years for the club before moving to the Burnaby Girls Soccer Club in 1997. Sjoman also played for the Wildcats Women Soccer Team at Burnaby Central Secondary School between 2001 and 2005 . After graduating from secondary school, she played for the Sun Devils Women Soccer Team at Arizona State University for four years . Sjoman gained her first professional experience in the W-League for Ottawa Fury while she was still a student . So she ran in 11 games for Fury in the 2007 season and scored 1 goal. After her first senior season, she returned to university and played the 2008 season, only in the NCAA Women's Soccer League. Only in 2009 Sjoman returned to the W-League and played in 5 games for the Boston Renegades . At the beginning of 2010, she left Boston and moved to the Women's Premier Soccer League club Phoenix Del Sol , before moving to the Canadian A-League representative Burnaby Canadians around five months later . On February 12, 2012, Sjoman left the American continent for the first time and moved to Europe. She signed on the same day with the English FA-WSL team Doncaster Rovers Belles LFC Sjoman ran in 13 FA WSL games until the end of 2011 , before she signed in the 2nd Bundesliga with Herford SV in January 2012 . Sjoman played 30 2nd Bundesliga games in a year and a half before moving to Scotland for the Celtic LFC from Glasgow in August 2013 . After Sjoman came in 7 games for Celtic in the Scottish Women's Premier League , she returned to Herford SV on loan in February 2014. After the loan contract expired, Sjoman returned from Herford SV to the Celtic LFC. A year and a half after returning to Celtic, she moved to the Sunderland AFC Ladies in the FA Women's Super League . After two and a half years in England, Sjöman signed for SK Slavia Prague on July 16, 2018 in the Czech Republic . With Slavia Prague , Sjoman reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2018/2019 against the German runner-up FC Bayern Munich .
International
Sjoman made her senior debut for Canada in April 2013 in a friendly against England at New York Stadium in Rotherham . She also ran from 2003 to 2004 for the Canadian U-17 and U-16 national teams.
As a trainer
In December 2014 Sjoman coached the juniors of Cliff Avenue United FC (CAUFC) in Burnaby , British Columbia during the 3-week winter break of the Scottish Women's Premier League .
