László Bíró de Kezdi-Polany

László Bíró de Kezdi-Polany (born January 6, 1806 in Nagysomkút , Kingdom of Hungary , † January 21, 1872 in Satu Mare , Romania ) was a Hungarian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Satu Mare .

Life

It was on October 1, 1829 deacon and on December 1 of the same year for priests ordained .

On December 28, 1866 he was appointed bishop of Satu Mare by imperial decree Franz Josef I. This appointment was confirmed by Pope Pius IX. on February 22, 1867. He was consecrated on April 11 of the same year in Vienna by the Apostolic Nuncio in Austria , Mariano Falcinelli Antoniacci OSB .

He was a council father at the First Vatican Council in 1869/70. He promoted the student youth and took special care of the poor, orphans and the elderly. He founded an orphanage for girls and trained teachers and kindergarten teachers. To finance it, he set up a diocese pension fund.

He died on January 21, 1872 in Satu Mare and was buried in the crypt of the Assumption Cathedral of Satu Mare.
