description
The tower is named after the heath poet Hermann Löns , who visited the area from time to time. The original tower from 1928 was originally planned 10 m higher by its architect, but this could not be realized due to lack of money. Since the young beech trees around it later blocked the view, it was raised to a height of 22 m in 1972 for the 950th anniversary of Salzhemmendorf and in 1997 by a further 4 m. In mid-2014, the outer masonry of the tower and some steps were renovated.
