target

The goal of the LEADER region is the sustainable and future-oriented development of the region.

The local development strategy is to be implemented and thereby an increase in added value, a strengthening of the structures and functions that are important for the common good and a consolidation or sustainable further development of natural resources and cultural heritage.

tasks

The LEADER region Kufstein and the surrounding area, Untere Schranne, Kaiserwinkl is there to develop and advance the region sustainably. She acts as an interface between the state, federal government, EU and the citizens of the region, but above all she is the contact person for project developments, funding applications and helps with networking in the region.

Since 2014 she has been helping project contracts to turn their ideas into reality. Thus, a lot of experience has already been gained in all areas. Thanks to the support of the KUUSK members and other regional actors, many projects were successfully initiated and implemented.

region

The region is located at the northern gate of Tyrol, on the border with Bavaria. In 2015, around 47,000 people lived in the region. It extends over approx. 435 km². 12% of the area is permanent settlement, an area of roughly the same size is under nature protection. This includes the area that belongs to the Kaisergebirge nature reserve, the Kufsteiner and Langkampfener Innauen and the Schwemm in Walchsee, the largest moor area (66 hectares) in the state of Tyrol and important water reservoirs in the region. Immediately adjacent, the rugged mountain ranges of the Wilder and Zahmer Kaiser with their nature-protected forest and rock corridors rise above the Kaisertal.

From the Inntal valley to the low mountain range on the flanks of the Brandenberger Alps and the Kaiser Mountains in the east, grassland and forest management is practiced, closely linked to the bi-season tourism that dominates from Thiersee via Walchsee to Großache.

The Inn Valley, the main artery, faces strong competition for the use of land. This is where the pulse of commercial and industrial production and trade beats. Along the Inn, between Langkampfen and Kufstein, there are well-known production companies as well as important service and leisure facilities in the region.
