Libs
Libs (spelling "libs", complete: libs Industrielle Berufslehren Schweiz) is a non-profit training company in the Swiss machine, electrical and metal industry (MEM) as a full service provider in vocational training. Libs has around 1,100 apprentices and is the country's largest training association in the MEM industry. Libs holds around 11% of all apprenticeship contracts of all companies in the Swissmem industry association . It is trained at the Birr AG / Baden AG , Zurich , Rapperswil and Heerbrugg locations .
The association structure consists of the four core members ABB , General Electric , Bombardier and Leica Geosystems as well as over 90 SMEs . The SMEs include companies such as Microsoft , Electrolux and Honeywell International .
history
It was founded in 1996 by the electrical engineering group ABB Switzerland under the name "ABB learning centers" . In 2002 there was a name change to “Learning Centers LfW” . In 2005, the Rheintal location in Heerbrugg was opened. In the same year the company received the ESPRIX Award 2005 . In 2012 the name was changed from “Lernzentren LfW” to “libs”.
Training model
libs works in a network of member companies (over 90 companies in the MEM industry). The member companies determine their need for young professionals. Based on this information, libs recruits the necessary number of apprentices in the required professions. The apprenticeship contracts are concluded with libs. The training is provided jointly by libs and the member companies, with libs taking on the basic and supplementary training and the member companies taking on the specialist training. libs is privately financed.
