The Decontamination Personnel Vehicle ( GW Dekon P ), or before 2014 decontamination truck people ( Dekon-LKW P ) or in technical jargon also called Dekon P or Dekon-P , is a German emergency vehicle that is used in NBC damage situations or in the event of hazardous material accidents is designed. It is a vehicle for civil protection and disaster control , which is procured by the federal government . Its loading is used to set up a decontamination area where the emergency services and those affected who have come into contact with dangerous substances can be decontaminated by the crew .

Short name

The official abbreviation for the decontamination truck people is Dekon-LKW P or GW Dekon P for the new version in the form of the equipment vehicle decontamination staff; mean:

Release orders

The decontamination equipment trolley Personnel often move out in the hazardous goods train with the hazardous goods equipment trolley . He cannot operate alone, but is part of the ABC service in disaster control.

In practice, however , special decontamination vehicles are used relatively seldom, since in most accidents involving dangerous goods, makeshift decontamination (for example "emergency decon") is almost always sufficient. In some fire departments, however, they are also used like a truck for transport purposes.

Vehicle data

Perm. Total mass : 10500 kilograms

Of the decon truck P according to BA 1013/1998, which is widely used today, 371 units have been ordered since 1998 and most of them have been delivered to fire departments throughout Germany.

This variant was preceded by two prototypes . In these, the decontamination equipment was housed in a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 7,490 kg, which could be driven with a class 3 driving license . However, due to the foreseeable change in driving license classes in 1999, this plan was discarded.

The first prototype (BA 1097/1992) was a MAN-VW 8.150. He had 7 seats and also four-wheel drive. The second prototype (BA 1010/1997) was designed on an Iveco 75 E 14 with rear-wheel drive and 7 seats. The most noticeable differences between the three variants are, in addition to the weight, the lower ground clearance of the second prototype, which is not suitable for off-road use, and the length of the loading area, which has increased from originally 3.20 m to 3.80 m to 4.30 m.

In 2008, 25 MAN TGM 18.280 vehicles - together with the multi-purpose vehicle (MzKW) of the THW - were procured. In the meantime, the vehicle type has been revised and established as a decontamination truck People 2 or now equipment vehicle decontamination staff. The loading has also changed slightly - as shown below.

For the Medical Task Force , the introduction of further developed decontamination trucks for persons 2+ or equipment vehicles for decontamination of injured persons (GW Decon V) is planned.

technology

standardization

The equipment trolley for decontamination personnel is not standardized according to DIN . Most of the examples are vehicles that were described by the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance in a procurement application (BA), in this case in BA 1013/1998, and procured centrally for civil protection and, in addition, for disaster control . These procurement requests are usually more specific than vehicle standards, as they contain specific chassis , engines and loads.

technical structure

The decon truck P according to BA 1013 is a flatbed truck on a MAN 10.163 with a double cab and a hydraulic tail lift . The gross vehicle weight is 10,500 kg ( payload 4150 kg) and the diesel engine has an output of 114 kW (155 hp). The vehicle is equipped with all-wheel drive and can be used off-road. The new equipment trolleys for decontamination personnel have a permissible total weight of 16,000 kg and a higher payload, the engine now has an output of 250 kW (340 hp).

Basic loading

There is no fire-fighting equipment on the vehicle for fire fighting or technical assistance, but extensive equipment for setting up and operating a decontamination area . The loading of the vehicle essentially consists of a shower tent, one-man shower cubicle (EDK), water heater (WDE), domestic waterworks (HWW), two tents with diesel- powered tent heater , hose material, water pumps, power generator, lighting device and collapsible tanks to collect the contaminated water. However, there is no material on this vehicle that can be taken from the public water supply and is therefore regularly used in combination with fire trucks.

Adaptation to the Drinking Water Ordinance of 2001

In the field of decontamination, too, roll-off containers have been developed as alternatives to the equipment trolley for decontamination personnel or the decontamination truck for people.
