The LWP Cmg with the road numbers 1600–1609 were ten direct current railcars of the Electric Local Railway Vienna-State Border near Hainburg (LWP), which they used on the Vienna city line of the Pressburger Bahn . There were also nine identically constructed sidecars of type Ch with road numbers 1525–1533.

history

In addition to the overland route operated with alternating current, the Pressburger Bahn also had two city routes operated with direct current. In 1913 ten two-axle direct current motor coaches with the designation Cmg 1600-1609 were procured for the Vienna city line . They resembled the trams of that time and are considered the predecessors of the Type M of the Viennese tram and the Type N of the Viennese electric light rail .

The from the POHÉ.V. The railcars procured for the Bratislava city route differed significantly from the Viennese railcars, but were also designated as Cmg .

Interior decoration

The Vienna railcars had teak cladding on the outside and were painted white and natural according to designs by the architect Otto Wagner , who also designed the interior. Since traffic did not develop as hoped, three railcars (1602–1604) were sold to the Brno tram in 1915 .

The BBÖ took over the remaining railcars when they were nationalized in 1921 as ET 24.01-07. After 1938 the Deutsche Reichsbahn drew the railcars in ET187 21-27. The former carriages 1601, 1606 and 1608 were sheltered from bombs in the Frischau train station near Brno in 1944 , from where they also came to the Brno tram in 1945. The former LWP railcars there were numbers 14 to 18, the former in 1604 fell victim to the chaos of war in Brno.

After 1945, the direct current line was no longer in operation, the railcars still received the ÖBB numbers 4924.01 (1600), 4924.03 (1605), 4924.05 (1607) and 4924.07 (1609), but were retired in 1954. The former car in 1607 came to the VEF as a club car and is now owned by the Mariazell – Erlaufsee museum tramway .

The five remaining railcars of the Brno tram were retired in 1964, the former 1603 (in Brno first 57, then 15, last as work vehicle 815) is again with the number 57 in the Technical Museum Brno .
