La Grosse-Pierre (Boissy)
The Dolmen La Grosse-Pierre (Pierre also druidique - German "Druidenstein" called) is on a hill in the forest of Saint-Laurent, about 4.0 km northeast of Boissy-Maugis , southeast of Mortagne-au-Perche in the Orne department in of Normandy in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).
The dolmen, first described in 1896 by the Comte de Moucheron, whose approximately 4.6 × 2.8 m measuring 0.7 m thick capstone lies diagonally on four collapsed supporting stones, is 78 or 30 cm above the ground and is only preserved as a remainder .
The megalithic complex has been registered as a Monument historique since 1949 .
Legend
The stone fell from the sky and the locals say it was brought by the maiden who comes every Saturday to do her laundry.
