La Rivera is a town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

La Rivera is the administrative seat of the province of Puerto de Mejillones and the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) La Rivera . La Rivera is located at the mouth of Rìo Mocomocone in the headwaters of the Río Sabaya at the foot of a hundred-meter-high round the mountain , 40 kilometers northwest of the salt lake Salar de Coipasa .
