Pisiga Bolívar (or Pisiga for short ) is a town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Pisiga is the central place of the canton Pisiga Bolívar Sucre in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Sabaya in the province of Sabaya . The village is located at an altitude of 3701 m on the border with Chile , two kilometers east of the Chilean border town of Colchane . Pisiga is located on the north bank of the Río Isluga , which flows from the Laguna Parinacota in the Chilean National Park Volcán Isluga 81 km east to the Salar de Coipasa salt lake .

Pisiga lies on the edge of the Bolivian Altiplano , which is bounded here to the west by the Cordillera Occidental . The region's climate is typical of the time of day , with the mean temperature fluctuation during the day being more pronounced than during the seasons.
The climate in the region is semi-arid , the annual precipitation is low 200 mm (see climate diagram Sabaya). From April to November there is a dry season with monthly values of less than 10 mm of precipitation, the wet season in summer is short and the rain is not very productive. The vegetation in the region corresponds to the semi-arid puna . It is treeless and mainly consists of thorn bushes , grasses , succulents and cushion plants . It is used economically as a llama , alpaca and sheep pasture .
Transport network
Pisiga lies at a distance of 231 kilometers by road southwest of Oruro , the capital of the department of the same name.
Pisiga is the end point of the 279 kilometer long and largely unpaved highway Ruta 12 , which comes from Caihuasi and crosses the city of Oruro and then leads via Ancaravi , Huachacalla and Sabaya to Pisiga Bolívar on the Chilean border.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Aymara population, in the Municipio Sabaya 62.9 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
