On January 1, 2016, La Rocque was incorporated into the new municipality of Valdallière as part of a regional reform together with 13 neighboring municipalities .

La Rocque is located in the hill country of Normandy ( French Collines de Normandie ), around 17.5 kilometers east-northeast of Vire-Normandie and 40 kilometers southwest of Caen .
