Laboratory community

The Labor Ateliergemeinschaft is an association of seven freelance graphic designers , illustrators and authors that was founded in 1999 in Frankfurt am Main .

history

The laboratory studio community was founded in the summer of 1999 by five freelance illustrators and graphic designers in the rooms of a former dental laboratory in Frankfurt am Main. Other designers and authors were added in the following years.

Today the following people work in the studio community:

In this composition, the laboratory works - individually or together - on different projects: books for children and young people, articles for newspapers and magazines, book covers and graphic design, novels, scripts, plays, materials for cultural mediation and museum education, readings, workshops, exhibitions and free work. As a joint project, the Labor Ateliergemeinschaft is primarily known for their children's scribble and hands-on books, although the book Ich so du so is the first non-fiction book to be published.

An exhibition in the picture book museum in Troisdorf in 2019 was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the laboratory studio community.

Former members of the studio are u. a. Alexandra Maxeiner , Christopher Fellehner and Claudia Weikert .

  • "Secret! An art exhibition for children and everyone else ”, Ludwigsburg Museum , 2015/2016
  • "Pssst. An exhibition for children ”, MMK Frankfurt (2012/2013). Together with eight artists from England, the studio community Labor has developed and designed works for children. The central theme of the exhibition were secrets that were picked up and presented in their various forms.
