The Laignes is a river in France that runs through the departments of Côte-d'Or ( Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region ) and Aube ( Grand Est region ). Its river course, about 72 km long, consists of two above-ground parts, connected by an almost twenty-kilometer long sinkhole .
Upper course
The upper part of the river has its source 384 m above sea level in a small valley near the Ferme du Quartier farmstead in the west of the municipality of Baigneux-les-Juifs . From there it flows in a north-westerly direction through Villaines-en-Duesmois , only to disappear into a hole in the communal forest of Puits 4 km behind after a flow path of a total of almost 21 km . The longest inlet of the upper reaches is the 1.5 km long planchotte (SANDRE: F0212000)
Lower course
In a straight line 17.9 km north-north-west of this gorge it reappears in a karst spring in the village of Laignes , 215 m above sea level.
After 2.4 km, the 8 km long Ruisseau de Martilly (F0201000) flows from the left to IGN Géoportail , SANDRE mentions a length of 4.6 km and 5.8 km, without any significant changes in the course of the stream at these distances from the mouth would find. One kilometer later, the 5.3 km long Ruisseau de Marcenay flows from the right and forms the outlet of the almost 0.6 km² large Étang de Marcenay . Its dataset at SANDRE (F02-0410) contains the map for the upper reaches of the Laignes instead of the data for this brook and the length of the upper and lower reaches of the Laignes. The dataset for La Laignes, on the other hand, only contains the kilometers for the lower reaches, although the upper reaches are also called La Laignes in the maps of the IGN's Géoportail .
The lower reaches of the Laignes measures 33.2 km and flows into the Seine from the left at Polisy .
