Lake Dallas is a city in Denton County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located in northeast Texas, 16 km southeast of Denton , in the north about 70 km from the Oklahoma border and has a total area of 6.8 km², of which 0.9 km² is water.

According to the census in 2000 , 6,166 people lived here in 2,261 households and 1,666 families. The population density was 1,039.6 inhabitants per km². The racial the population was composed of 89.51% White, 3.32% African American, 0.63% Native American, 0.94% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, and 3.84% other ethnic groups. About 1.74% were mixed race and 9.83% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 2,261 households, 43.4% had children under the age of 18. In 56.9% there were married couples living together. 12.3% were single mothers and 26.3% were not families. 20.4% of all households were single households and 5.4% had people who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.17.
30.7% of the population were under 18 years old, 7.2% 18 to 24, 37.7% 25 to 44, 18.2% 45 to 64, and 6.2% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 98.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 94.1 men.
