Lambert Wickinghof or Wittinghof (* in the 15th century ; † September 6, 1529 in Lübeck ) was councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Lambert Wickinghof was the son of Lübeck councilor and mayor Johann Wickinghof . His mother Anneke Leve was the daughter of the stable owner Laurens Leve on the island of Strand. Her brother Levo Leve was a canon in Lübeck.

Lambert Wickinghof was elected to the city council in 1514 and a member of the circle society in 1515 . In 1521 he was a member of the embassy to Emperor Charles V , led by Mayor Nikolaus Broemse , who complained about the Danish disruption of Lübeck's Baltic trade by King Christian II .

Lambert Wickinghof was married to Margarethe Bere, daughter of Lübeck councilor Johann Bere , who had previously been married to councilor Dietrich Broemse for the first time.

Votive picture

After the death of his mother in 1552, his stepson Heinrich Brömse donated a votive picture, which first hung in Lübeck's Marienkirche and then was donated to the St. Annen Museum in 1852 via the collection of Lübeck's mayor Karl Ludwig Roeck . The picture attributed to Hans Kemmer shows Wickinghof and his wife kneeling in front of a depiction of the baptism of Jesus . The main theme of the picture is not the baptism of Jesus in the center of the picture, but the sermon of John the Baptist ( Lk 3, 4, 7-14  LUT ), whose demands the people in the picture comply with by giving up their property. The picture indicates the righteousness and benevolence of the deceased.
