Lancaster is a city in Dallas County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city in northeast Texas at the junction of Highway 342 with Pleasant Run Road, 22 km south of Dallas and has a total area of 75.9 km² without any significant water surface.
history
The place was named after Lancaster in Kentucky , the birthplace of Abram Bledsoe , the founder of the settlement.

According to the 2000 census, 25,894 people lived here in 9,182 households and 6,895 families. The population density was 341.3 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 37.63% White, 53.00% African American, 0.49% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, and 6.58% other ethnic groups. About 1.85% were of mixed race and 11.59% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 9,182 households, 40.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 49.4% of these were married couples living together. 20.8% were single mothers and 24.9% were non-families. 21.3% of all households were single households and 6.3% had people living in them who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.22.
30.5% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.6% 18 to 24, 32.3% 25 to 44, 19.6% 45 to 64, and 9.0% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 85.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 80.9 men.
