Lance Todd Trophy
The Lance Todd Trophy is an annual award that has been presented to the Man of the Match in the Challenge Cup final since 1946 . It is named after Lance Todd , a New Zealand rugby league player who was killed in a traffic accident during World War II . The decision of who will receive the award is made by the members of the Rugby League Writers' Association. The award ceremony will take place at the AJ Bell Stadium .
The award can be given to a player of the winning team or to one of the defeated teams. The latter has only happened eight times so far. In 1965 and 2007, two players received the award.
The youngest player to receive the award was Peter Ramsden of the Huddersfield Giants . He received the award in 1953 at the age of 19.
