State festival in Germany

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

State festivals or state festivals are festive days on which a federal state usually organizes various cultural events in another city every year . The individual regions of the country usually also present themselves.

State festivals now take place in all of Germany's large states , with the exception of Bavaria and Schleswig-Holstein . In Bavaria, however, the Franconian Day has existed at regional level since 2006 .

The oldest national festival in Germany is the Hessentage , which has been taking place since 1961 .

The events are either spread over the whole year or they are concentrated in a festival week or on a long weekend. There is usually a historical parade with traditional bands and clubs.

In some countries there are also regional or district or county festivals at the regional level.
