The Landesjugendring Niedersachsen eV is the working group of 19 youth organizations active nationwide. Its more than 80 independent youth associations have around 500,000 members.

The association works in dialogue with politics, the public and the administration to ensure that children and young people are heard, that their interests are taken into account and that their living conditions are improved. He also tries to secure, improve and expand the structures for youth work in their various forms. In addition to the state youth association, there are more than 200 district, city, local and community youth associations with similar tasks at the municipal level, which the state youth association supports with publications, events and individual advice.

The state youth council occasionally participates in the run-up to decisions in the state parliament or in the municipal and city parliaments in order to represent the interests of the young people and make their concerns heard. He encourages young people to become politically active, calls on the parties to take their interests into account more strongly and advocates lowering the voting age. The association tested the first online elections with neXTvote as early as the mid-1990s .

With the Lower Saxony youth server, he operates a central Lower Saxony information platform for youth work. This has areas of magazine , wiki and network with information from youth work and youth policy and opportunities for participation and communication. Topics, methods, databases, podcasts and weblogs are intended to support the volunteer and full-time employees involved in youth work.
