The Mödling Regional Clinic is located at Sr. M. Restituta-Gasse 12 in Mödling and is managed by the Lower Austrian Regional Clinic Holding .

history

On February 1, 1882, the institution "Städtisches Public Hospital Mödling" founded by Mayor Josef Schöffel started operations in a rededicated private house with 40 beds. After the number of beds had been increased to 117 by an extension in 1883, the building was equipped with running water in 1893.

On October 15, 1938, the “Mödling General Public District Hospital” became the property of the City of Vienna , which also took over management.

In 1956 the hospital became the property of the Province of Lower Austria again , which has repeatedly expanded its structure. A four-story bed wing with 240 beds was built. In 1969 a pediatric department with six floors was opened.

Due to the cooperation between the regional hospitals in Lower Austria, the name was changed to "Thermenklinikum Mödling". On January 1, 2004, the merger with the Baden State Hospital took place , which the State of Lower Austria had taken over on January 1, 2003. Since the names of all state hospitals have been standardized, the previous "Thermenklinikum Mödling" will be called "Landesklinikum Thermenregion Mödling" from February 15, 2005.

Which took place in May 2006, opening of the cardiac catheterization laboratory allows the Landesklinikum Mödling, cardiovascular constriction and heart attacks quickly diagnose and either dilatation or by the implantation of stents to treat.

In April 2007, the project of the planning association of the architects Paul Katzberger , Michael Laudon and Josef Habeler was chosen as the winning model in an architectural competition for the new building of the regional clinic Thermenregion Möding. In spring 2010, a new building started at the same location. A construction period of around five years is planned. At the beginning of 2013, the topping-out ceremony for the first of three pavilions took place.

In May 2018, the renovation of the clinic with a focus on gynecology, orthopedics and neurology was officially opened. The three new pavilions require a floor area of almost 54,000 square meters and accommodate 338 beds and five operating theaters.

Hinterbrühl KJPP location

The Hinterbrühl KJPP location provides inpatient and outpatient psychotherapeutic and psychiatric care and treatment of children and adolescents. The curative educational station was founded in 1955 by Erwin Schmuttermeier for 21 children. In 1978 the company moved to Hinterbrühl, with the capacity increased to 38 children at the same time.

Vienna Speising (historical)

The educational institution of the school brothers built in 1910 at Speisinger Straße 109 was converted into an orphanage in 1913. It held this function until 1938, when the school brothers had to cease their activities. The National Socialist rulers transferred the building to the state of Lower Austria and planned to set up a National Socialist educational institution here, but during the Second World War it was used as a hospital . In 1947 the Lower Austrian Landtag decided to rebuild the Lower Austrian owned hospital with two departments ( tuberculosis hospital and children's hospital with an attached nursing school). Help came from Sweden . Europahilfe , based in Gothenburg , raised the entire facility for the children's hospital, which is why the children's hospital was called Haus Göteborg . The hospital opened on June 3, 1949.

After Mödling was reclassified to Lower Austria, Mödling's hospital became a Lower Austrian regional hospital, to which the hospital in Speising was attached for economic and organizational reasons. With the gradual expansion of the Mödling State Hospital, departments were withdrawn from Speising from 1956 until the move was completed in 1969. In 1956 the orthopedic hospital, previously housed in an emergency quarter in today's national library , moved in here .

Sister Maria Restituta Kafka

The operating nurse Maria Restituta , who has been working at the Mödling Hospital since 1919 , was arrested by the Gestapo in 1942 because she refused to remove the crucifixes from the hospital rooms. On March 30, 1943, she was executed by the People's Court for “treasonable favoring the enemy” and “preparation for high treason” in the Vienna Regional Court . She was beatified by Pope John II on June 21, 1998 in Vienna. A memorial plaque in the hospital and the address of the hospital, which was renamed from Weyprechtgasse to Sr. M. Restituta Gasse in 1995, commemorate her.

A stumbling block was also laid in Restitutagasse in 2006, which was currently (2013) removed due to the construction site.
