During the current season, VfL Schwenningen , SSV Reutlingen , SG Friedrichshafen and SpVgg Biberach moved from the regional league to the newly formed Oberliga Südwest in January 1947 . Qualification for the Oberliga Südwest

As a criterion for admission for the new Oberliga Südwest, which started playing in January 1947, the table status in the two national league groups on December 31, 1946 was used. From the group north, the table leader VfL Schwenningen and the table third SSV Reutlingen qualified because the table runner-up SpVgg Trossingen could not meet the requirements. In the south group there were elimination matches between the top four teams:

  • SV Lindenberg and SG Friedrichshafen parted 1: 1. Since Lindenberg did not play a replay, Friedrichshafen rose.
  • SpVgg Biberach beat SV 04 Laupheim 6: 1 and rose to the top division.
