The State Dental Association of Saxony is the public professional representation of around 5,300 dentists in the Free State of Saxony . It was founded on October 7, 1990 as a corporation under public law . The Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion is responsible for legal supervision .

The chamber is a member of the German Dental Association, the working group of the German Dental Associations. V. (BZÄK).

Members

Currently (as of December 31, 2019) the State Dental Association of Saxony represents 5,586 professionals, of whom 3,853 are active dentists. Among the working dentists are 3,443 (62%) women and 2,143 (38%) men. 2,728 (71%) professionals work in their own branch, 1,125 (29%) are dentists employed in practices and of these 150 (13%) dentists are employed outside of practices, for example in university clinics and hospitals or as employees of the public health service (ÖGD) . Among the practicing professionals are 184 specialists in orthodontics , 142 specialists in oral surgery and 64 specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery , whereby several specialist dentist titles can be held at the same time.

All dentists in Saxony who are authorized to practice their profession based on a license to practice medicine and who practice their profession in the Free State are compulsory members of the State Dental Association of Saxony. This also applies to dentists who do not practice their profession but who have their main residence in Saxony.

Tasks and responsibilities

Sovereign tasks

On the basis of the Sächsisches Heilberufekammergesetz (SächsHKaG), the Free State of Saxony assigns the following sovereign tasks to the State Dental Association of Saxony:

  • to perceive and represent the professional interests of all members in the sense of the respective professional mandate, taking into account the welfare of the general public, and to ensure a high reputation of the profession,
  • to monitor the fulfillment of the professional legal and professional ethical obligations of the members,
  • to ensure the quality of professional practice,
  • to take suitable measures for the design and promotion of further and advanced training for professionals,
  • to work towards a prosperous relationship between the members,
  • mediate in professional disputes among members and in disputes in connection with professional practice between members and third parties,
  • to perform the necessary tasks for the professional training of the dental assistants and for the qualified further training of the practice team,
  • to support the public health service in fulfilling its tasks and
  • to create a pension scheme for dentists.

To fulfill these tasks, the State Dental Association of Saxony sets the following priorities in its administrative work:

  • in the State Working Group for Youth Dental Care of the Free State of Saxony e. V. (LAGZ )
  • in the Saxon State Association for Health Promotion ( SLfG )
  • in the regional association of the liberal professions of Saxony e. V. ( LFB Saxony )

Advanced training

The permanent training for dentists and dental assistants is the basis of the professional practice. These include advanced training series / curricula for dentists, courses to update specialist knowledge / knowledge in radiation protection or advanced training for dental assistants. Events such as the annual Saxon training day for dentists and practice teams or the Saxon prophylaxis and ZMV day for trained employees are held. The advanced training courses are organized by the Chamber's advanced training academy.

Training of the practice staff

The State Chamber of Dentists of Saxony is the responsible body for the training of dental assistants (ZFA) and for the advancement of the dental prophylaxis assistant (ZMP) and the dental administrative assistant (ZMV). The organization of training, advice and information on all questions relating to ZFA training and advancement training as well as intermediate and final exams, retraining and the equivalence assessment of foreign professional qualifications takes place.

public relation

The Information Center for Dental Health (IZZ) is the joint press office of the Saxon dentists, an institution of the State Chamber of Dentists of Saxony and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZVS). It arranges interview partners, press photos, contacts to interlocutors from teaching and research and researches on special topics on request. The IZZ is the publisher of the monthly magazine Zahnärzteblatt Sachsen .

Together with the Dental Associations of Brandenburg , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia as well as the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists Saxony -Anhalt , the State Dental Association of Saxony publishes the patient magazine ZahnRat . The magazine provides information on various dental topics and disease prevention. It appears quarterly with a circulation of around 55,000 copies and is distributed primarily through the dental practices of the publishing countries.

Prevention / precaution

The State Dental Association of Saxony supports the Saxon dental profession in their preventive care activities. Information and aids for clarification are made available to the dentists. One focus is on supporting work for the oral health of people in need of care and disabled people.

Patient advice

The State Chamber of Dentists of Saxony advises patients and supports them in solving problems from dental treatment. It organizes the "Patient Academy" series of events, which is dedicated to patient health education on dental issues.

Practice management, dental office and occupational medical and safety support

The State Dental Association of Saxony provides dentists with advice, information and offers on all questions relating to the management of the dental practice, practice organization, occupational safety and hygiene. She takes on the quality assurance according to the X-ray ordinance and the organization of the updating of the specialist knowledge / knowledge in radiation protection for the dental practices. The chamber organizes the BuS service (company medical and safety-related support) as well as the validation of the reprocessing process for medical devices for dental practices in Saxony.

Continuing education dentists

The Chamber creates the prerequisites for the further training and examination of dentists as a specialist in orthodontics , a specialist in oral surgery and as a specialist in public health .

Pension scheme

The retirement pension of the working dentists in Saxony is taken over by a special facility of the State Chamber of Dentists of Saxony, the Dental Supply Saxony (ZVS). All working dentists in Saxony are compulsory members. The ZVS is under the supervision of the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion (legal supervision) and the Saxon State Ministry for Economy and Labor (insurance supervision ).

A mission statement has existed since 2010 that represents a commitment to professional dental ethics:

  • The prevention and treatment of tooth, mouth and jaw diseases for the benefit of the patients is the most important part of my professional practice.
  • I advise patients on what is medically necessary and possible in order to enable them to make a decision about sensible treatment.
  • When it serves the patient, I use professional support from colleagues.
  • Confidentiality is an elementary basis of my actions.
  • My freelance dental work is characterized by personal responsibility, independence and competence as well as being committed to the common good.
  • I live up to my responsibility to patients through continuous training.
  • I maintain a trusting relationship with my employees and promote their training and further education.
  • I observe the rules of fairness and collegiality in the profession.
  • I refrain from praising the person, practice and dental work.
  • For the benefit of the patients, I am actively committed to the implementation of this model in a constantly changing society.

Chamber assembly

The members of the Chamber Assembly are elected by the dentists of Saxony in a direct, free, equal and secret ballot based on the principles of the majority voting system. It consists of a maximum of 72 Saxon dentists and one dental representative each from the teaching staff of the two Saxon dental university clinics in Dresden and Leipzig. The legislative period is four years. All members of the Chamber Assembly work for the LZKS on a voluntary basis.

Board

The Chamber Assembly elects the board members from among its members. The board consists of the president, two vice-presidents and six other members.

To ensure the tasks, the board uses an administration. She is the contact and service partner for dentists and the general public. The administrative headquarters are in Dresden .

history

The State Dental Association of Saxony was founded on October 7, 1990 in Leipzig. The 1st Saxon Dental Conference in the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden in August 1990 decided to exercise freely and to set up a chamber for professional self-administration. In 1992 the chamber set up the advanced training academy for dentists and practice staff. Together with the KZV Sachsen, it was decided to build a new dentist's house and in 1996 the foundation stone was laid. The move took place in 1998. The Chamber's advanced training academy has 14 seminar and practical work rooms in which around 220 events and courses are held annually with around 7,000 participants.
