The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Dental Association , based in the state capital Schwerin , is the self-administered professional representation of currently around 2000 dentists in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Your interests are also represented at the federal and European level through membership of the German Dental Association.

The Chamber of Dentists is subject to the legal supervision of the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Health of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It includes all dentists who practice their profession in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania or, if they do not practice their profession, who have their main residence there. The legal basis is the Healthcare Professions Act of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

history

On March 17, 1990, around 500 delegates founded the Independent German Dental Association of the GDR (UDZ) in Leipzig . The aim was to build a free, democratic health system in the dental field with the political change in East Germany. The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Dental Association was founded on April 28, 1990 as a public corporation . After the law on professional representation and the practice of doctors, dentists, veterinarians and pharmacists came into force on July 13, 1990, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Dental Association was recognized as a public corporation in the still existing GDR and entrusted with the corresponding tasks. In 1990 a total of 12,527 dentists were active in the GDR, 455 of them in private practice. 1529 dentists worked in the three northern districts of Rostock , Schwerin and Neubrandenburg , 59 percent of whom were women. A professional pension fund was established in 1991 after a strike vote. In 1991 the permanent coordination conference of the dental associations of the five new federal states and Berlin was brought into being. From October 16-18, 1992, the 1st Dental Conference took place together with the 42nd annual conference of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Society for Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald and the University of Rostock in the former district party school the Great Dreesch in Schwerin.

The assembly of delegates of the Dental Association consists of 44 delegates, who elect the two presidents and another five board members. There are 19 district offices of the Dental Association in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. They are led by board members who are elected by their members. The State Dental Association is on the one hand the representation of interests and on the other hand entrusted with sovereign tasks. This includes monitoring compliance with the professional code by dentists, issuing medical professional cards, commenting on the competent authorities on draft laws and ordinances, submitting expert opinions or appointing experts to provide expert opinions or promoting high quality professional practice. The Dental Association works with the German Dental Association and supports them in their tasks.

Advanced training

The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Dental Association usually organizes a dentist's day every year, on which advanced training courses for dentists and dental assistants are offered. In addition, there is an annual training day. The Dental Association offers advanced training events on many specialist topics all year round. With the award of a training seal, special achievements in personal training are recognized by the chamber.

Youth dental care

The state working group for the promotion of youth dental care in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V. (LAJ) organizes and finances group dental prophylaxis. The target groups are children and young people up to the age of 18 in day-care centers and homes, institutions for the disabled and schools. The LAJ is from the dental association Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the dentists' association Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, represented by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the city and municipality day Mecklenburg-Vorpommern , the County Association Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and all health insurance entertain . Emergency service

The dentists in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania offer a dental emergency service when there are no consultation hours. This emergency service is organized by the district offices of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Dental Association. The emergency dentist's practice is manned during so-called office hours. Outside of these office hours, the dentist on duty can be reached by phone.
