The State Dental Association of Hesse , based in Frankfurt am Main , is the professional representative of currently more than 6,600 Hessian dentists .
history
The State Dental Association of Hesse emerged from the association "Dental Association Hessen eV". The association was founded on June 13, 1953. After the Chamber Law was passed by the Hessian State Parliament in 1954, the State Dental Chamber of Hesse was formed in its current organizational form as a public corporation . Responsibilities
The Hessian legislature has defined the list of tasks for the State Dental Association of Hesse in the Healthcare Professions Act. As a public corporation oriented towards the common good, the State Dental Association of Hesse fulfills statutory tasks. This includes not only the health and civil political advocacy of its members, but also the information and education of citizens . To ensure patient protection in particular , the State Dental Association of Hesse maintains a three-stage system of advice and arbitration options:

Patient advice center
The Landeszahnärztekammer Hesse maintains for patients own patient counseling center. The central advice center is a telephone and written contact point for the citizens of Hesse for all questions about dentistry , dental therapy and their billing .
Arbitration Board
In the event of disagreements between the dentist and the patient, patients have the opportunity to contact the arbitration committee of the State Dental Association of Hesse.
The arbitration board serves the amicable and out-of-court settlement. It is available to the patient free of charge in order to reach an amicable agreement. The arbitration procedure before the arbitration committee of the State Dental Association of Hesse is voluntary; both parties must agree to such a procedure . The arbitration committee makes its decision on the basis of the files and the result of the oral hearing to be scheduled . A professional opinion will not be prepared as part of the arbitration procedure.

The State Dental Association of Hesse has a selected and trained group of experts for all areas of dentistry, oral and maxillofacial medicine . The private reviews can be commissioned by the patient. The patient is responsible for the costs involved.
- Court opinion
The Hessian Chamber of Dentists suggests suitable experts for the preparation of court reports at the request of the Hessian courts .
Advanced training
The State Chamber of Dentists continues to promote the professional training of its members. For this purpose, the State Chamber of Dentists Hessen with its advanced training academy Zahnmedizin Hessen GmbH (FAZH) offers extensive dental advanced training events for dentists and practice employees in its own advanced training rooms.
Vocational training
In accordance with the Vocational Training Act, the Hessen State Chamber of Dentists conducts training to become a dental assistant (ZFA) in Hessen and enters the training relationships in the associated directory .
The FAZH offers various advancement qualifications for professional development. This includes training to become a dental assistant (ZMF) or a dental administrative assistant (ZMV).
X-ray site
The dental X-ray unit is located at the State Dental Association of Hesse. The X-ray unit has the task of checking the quality assurance of the dental X-ray devices in Hessen in accordance with the X-ray Ordinance . The X-ray unit supports the optimization of the measures in the area of radiation protection in order to keep the radiation exposure of the patient as low as possible.

Democratic Constitution
As a corporation under public law, the State Dental Association of Hesse is democratically structured, which means in particular the legitimation of all committees through elections , defined responsibilities and democratic decision-making processes. The basis for this is the statutes of the LZKH. Self-governing bodies of the chamber are:
- Assembly of delegates (48 members )
- Board of Directors (9 members)
The composition of the organs takes place through elections. The legislative period is 5 years. The current business of the chamber is carried out by the executive board in cooperation with the main management . The LZKH is divided into 51 district offices, which are responsible for discussing and carrying out the tasks assigned to the LZKH by the Health Professions Act in accordance with the resolutions of the organs. The chamber's official notification body is “Der Hessische Zahnarzt” (DHZ). The DHZ appears every two months as a joint editor with the Hessen Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists.
