District Court (Swabian Alb)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Landgericht is the name of an area west of Ehingen (Danube) on the Swabian Alb . It is a plateau between Lautertal and Schmiechtal in the Alb-Donau district . The municipality of Lauterach and the villages of Mundingen , Altsteusslingen and Kirchen, which are incorporated into Ehingen , form their cornerstones.

history

To the southeast of Mundingen there was the court of the Counts of Wartstein around 1200 , of which so-called "regional court books" and a memorial stone still remind us today and from which the name is derived. The aristocratic local rule held court days here in the open air until the Habsburg king Albrecht I acquired the small county before 1300. The Ehinger Oberamtsbeschreibung from 1826 calls the place "a not insignificant monument of German antiquity". The hall to the east of this square is called "Book of the Dead".

natural reserve

The area is protected as an FFH area according to the Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive with the designation Großes Lautertal and Landgericht . Parts of the area are under landscape protection . Three remarkable, large funnel dolines on a wooded ridge about 500 meters northeast of the district court beeches are protected as natural monuments.

geology

Tertiary freshwater limes and limestone marls of the Upper Freshwater Molasse with a thickness of up to 60 m overlay the Jura rocks on the ridge of the regional court . In the transition area to the Jura there are narrow strips of sand and marl of the brackish water molasse and the lower fresh water molasse . In the Bachtal north of Mochental Castle , several stratified springs emerge whose watercourses quickly seep back into the karst subsoil .
