The Langenscheidt Vocabulary is developed by the theologian Jörg Michael Grassau and Langenscheidt set to music and displaced vocabulary trainer . It is based on Sebastian Leitner's learning card system .
Free languages and learning content
The vocabulary trainer has free vocabulary in around 25 languages and seven German dialects. These are created by users of the vocabulary trainer, structured by the software author and can be downloaded from his website . In addition to the languages, there are other learning treasures from subjects such as botany, chemistry, geography (e.g. capital cities , vehicle registration plates ), history, law, mythology, communication (e.g. Morse code , Braille ), literary studies, mathematics (e.g. . Basic arithmetic ), medicine, science, physics and theology.
Versions set to music
On the other hand, there is a charge for the vocabulary set to music, which was contributed in four foreign languages and German by Langenscheidt and in three old languages by the author himself. These vocabulary represent the vocabulary of the international language diploma exams A1, A2, B1 and B2 offered by the German adult education centers . In the first foreign language (mostly English) this is slightly above secondary school level , in the other languages it is just below the Abitur level . For each language, this is around 3300 words set to music in both languages and just as many example sentences set to music. In addition, the vocabulary of many printed textbooks and PC learning courses from Langenscheidt as well as example sentences from version 4 are included.
The audio version is available in English , French , Italian , Spanish , Latin and Business English. Each of the versions also contains the settings of the German language . Furthermore, by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht , a triple-language version in the ancient languages Hebrew , Greek and Latin available. The free additions to the vocabulary trainer can be used from any of these six versions. Those who are more advanced than level B2 (C level) can take over vocabulary from the additional dictionary with 40,000 key words without a soundtrack, add their own vocabulary or import them from a text file. The language beginner, on the other hand, will find a sufficient set of materials.
Learning variants
Various methods based on the learning card system are available for learning vocabulary: Export to MP3 player, printing out as a paper-based learning card, memory game and list, query with speech recognition, dictation, fill-in-the-blank test , targeted viewing, automatic playback with pause before the solution is displayed ( called Superlearning ), Crosswords, Matching, Multiple Choice, Search Puzzles and Exam Mode.
Tutorials and conjugation trainers
The vocabulary is divided into a basic (level A1, A2) and advanced vocabulary (level B1, B2) and sorted according to subject areas. For beginners, it makes sense to learn the entire set of vocabulary of a language (or any other vocabulary) through a one-time configurable tutorial that spreads the subject matter over weeks, months or years and automatically schedules repetitions at longer intervals - if desired a target date directed or strictly according to the system of Sebastian Leitner.
A conjugation trainer with 1200 verb tables is also available. This training can be focused on specific learning objectives, such as B. at certain times , coupled with a targeted Verbauswahl (z. B. auxiliaries , modals , or discrete Verbauswahl).
