Langstrand (often also Long Beach or Longbeach , in German as much as "Langer Strand") is a suburb , district and beach of Walvis Bay on the South Atlantic in Namibia . The district is located on the B2 national road in the Walvis Bay (Land) constituency , 19 kilometers north of the city of Walvis Bay and 16 kilometers south of Swakopmund .
history
Like the nearby Dolfynstrand ("Delfinstrand"), Langstrand was founded as a seaside resort in the late 1970s and for a long time only had a few hundred permanent residents. During the season and the South African and Namibian school holidays, especially in December and January, several thousand holidaymakers are accommodated. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were among the most famous visitors to Long Beach .
Since November 2, 2000, Langstrand has been part of Walvis Bay as Farm Langstrand No. 49 .
Long beach takes its name from its long sandy beaches; In addition to the beach promenade, the place also has several hotels, lodges, guest houses, a campsite and various facilities for sports and leisure activities.
