Lanny Morgan

Lanny Morgan (* 30th March 1934 in Des Moines , Iowa ) is an American jazz - saxophonist .

Live and act

Lanny Morgan grew up in Los Angeles and began his music career in 1954 in the big bands of the west coast of the USA with Charlie Barnet , Si Zentner , Terry Gibbs and Bob Florence . After military service in the late 1950s, he was a member of Maynard Ferguson's big band in the first half of the 1960s . After working as a freelance musician in New York City for a while , he returned to Los Angeles in 1969 and worked mainly as a studio musician, was a member of the Supersax formation and played in the big bands of Bill Berry (around 1975), Frank Capp , and Vic Lewis , Bob Florence and Bill Holman ( A View from the South , 1995).

Lanny Morgan recorded some albums under his own name for the Californian label Palo Alto Records (1981), VSOP (1993), Contemporary (1996); In 1997 he created A Suite for Yardbird for Fresh Sound with pianist Lou Levy .
