Lars Volbrecht (* 1979 in Hameln ) is a German chef.

Career

Volbrecht studied medicine in Hanover from 2010 to 2012 before training as a chef in Westerland on Sylt and in Cologne with Maximilian Lorenz . In 2015 he went to the Atelier & Garden restaurant with Jan Hartwig in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich (one Michelin star ). In 2016 he became sous chef at Hotel Ganter & Restaurant Mohren on the island of Reichenau on Lake Constance , then at Restaurant Avui with Armin Karrer inFellbach .

In July 2017 he became the owner and chef of the Alte Vogtei in Köngen , in the oldest building in the town, built in 1485. In 2017 the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star. His wife Nadine worked as a maitre in the restaurant. In June 2018 he closed the restaurant for renovation work and informed the Michelin Guide that he would reopen the restaurant in early 2019; therefore the restaurant was again awarded a Michelin star in 2019, although it remained closed. In April 2019 he was sentenced to a suspended sentence for fraud, but the process of awarding the star was not the subject of the criminal proceedings.

In May 2019 he wanted to open the restaurant pure 1901 in Chur , Switzerland, but the city refused him permission. Volbrecht complained against it.
