Lars Witteck (born March 20, 1974 in Marburg ) is a German lawyer, CDU politician and was President of the Gießen Regional Council from May 18, 2009 to October 31, 2015 .

life and career

Lars Witteck was born in Marburg, the son of the retail salesman Heinz Witteck, who ran a grocery store in Fernwald- Steinbach. He has a sister. After graduating from the Liebigschule Gießen , Witteck studied law at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen from 1994 to 1999 and, after his first state examination, was a research assistant at the chair for German and foreign criminal law and criminal procedure law with commercial and environmental criminal law from 1999 to 2002 of the University of Giessen. There he wrote his dissertation on "The operator in environmental criminal law - at the same time a contribution to the teaching of mandatory offenses", for which he was awarded the advancement award of the Darmstadt Legal Society in May 2004 .

After completing the legal clerkship at the regional court in Giessen and at the Higher Regional Court in Munich from 2002 to 2004, Witteck worked from 2003 to 2005 as a research assistant at the legal, sociological and anthropological research project at the universities of Giessen, Liverpool and Warwick on the subject of "Informed consent at the end of life - A comparative socio-legal study ”.

In July 2004, Witteck completed the second state examination in law and was employed from October to December 2004 as head of the policy department in the ministerial office of the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and for Sport (HMdIS). From January 2005 he was initially a formal judge at the Frankfurt am Main district court , but was then seconded to the HMdIS as head of the policy department in the ministerial office. From 2006 Witteck worked as a judge in civil and care matters at the Friedberg District Court and was again seconded to the HMdIS as head of the policy department from January 2007 to February 2008. Since February 2008, he has worked as a judge in civil and criminal matters at the Giessen Regional Court, from March 2008 he was seconded to the Friedberg District Court as head of the local juvenile detention center and chairman of the juvenile lay judge and appointed judge for life in September 2008. He also taught criminal law and criminal procedure law in the police department at the Hessian University for Police and Administration in Wiesbaden.

On May 18, 2009, Minister of the Interior Volker Bouffier appointed Lars Witteck to succeed Wilfried Schmied as the sixth district president of the Gießen administrative district. Since May 18, 2011, he has also been chairman of the regional management association for Central Hesse - also as Schmied's successor. Together with eighteen other shareholders, the association founded Regionalmanagement Mittelhessen GmbH on December 27, 2012. In May 2015, Witteck announced that he would step down from his post in October 2015 for personal and professional reasons. From November 1, 2015, Lars Witteck will be a member of the board of directors of Volksbank Mittelhessen eG , where he will be active as a general agent until he is approved by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority . Witteck is to lead the private customer business at the Mittelhessische Volksbank.

Lars Witteck became a member of the Junge Union in 1990 and was active in local politics for the CDU in Fernwald .

Witteck is married, has twins and lives in Fernwald.
