action

Michael Gold works as a freelance agent for the CIA . In the African region of Kavango, he is supposed to meet the scientist Dr. Convince Braun to work with the Americans. At a first meeting he is captured and is said to be executed as a spy . However, he manages to escape. His clients convince him to free the scientist from the hands of the KGB . He travels to Kavango again and seeks Alissa, the supposed daughter of the professor. Together they try to locate the professor's whereabouts. His dying best friend, Professor Rice, gives them a tip. You can shake off the approaching mercenaries after a daring chase with a stolen van.

During the violent border crossing to Namibia , the transporter is destroyed and both continue to flee through the desert. They get the tip from a mercenary of the Austrian trophy hunter to give Swakopmund a try. Eckhardt works with Colonel Kalishnakov from the KGB. The professor is supposed to construct a laser weapon for the KGB. A basic component is the largest diamond in the world, which was previously stolen during a presentation.

In the hotel room, Alissa and Michael get closer. While Michael sleeps afterwards, Alissa, who is actually also an agent of the CIA, goes on her own and is captured. Michael tries to free her, but is also captured. The showdown finally takes place on Eckhardt's estate and the nearby diamond mine . Alissa, the professor and Michael manage to overpower Eckhardt and Kalishnakov and secure the diamond.

background

The German video version of IMW was indexed by the BPJM in 1991 . In May 2016, after the 25-year period, the indexing was canceled. In the late 1990s, another version was marketed by the uncut label Screen Power. In 2006 IMW and EuroVideo released the film on DVD. In order to be approved for ages 16 and over, the film was minimally shortened in three places. The DVD was initially planned as a JK version, after the changes, the FSK 16 approval was simply stuck on the seal of the JK .

criticism

“Poor James Bond cut that relies on traditional enemy images; Almost comic-like in narration and presentation, chases and shootings are strung together with no sense of timing, unimaginatively and sometimes with relish. "
