Liu Na

Liu Na ( Chinese  刘娜 , Pinyin Liú Nà ; * 1979 in Shenyang , Liaoning Province ) is a Chinese physicist . It plays an internationally leading role in the field of metamaterials .

Life

Liu studied physics at Jilin University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology . After completing her studies, she moved to Germany , where she worked at the 4th Physics Institute at the University of Stuttgart and received her doctorate in 2009 . As a post-doctoral student , she initially continued to work at the University of Stuttgart. In 2010 she received the Hertha Sponer Prize of the German Physical Society " for pioneering contributions to the characterization and manufacture of three-dimensional metal nanostructures ". She then went to the United States for a year and continued her research as a post-doctoral student at the University of California, Berkeley . Since 2011 she has been visiting professor at Rice University in Houston , Texas . She has been working at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems since August 2012 .

Liu Na is married. Her husband, also a physicist, followed her to Germany after a year. He works at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne .
