Laure Barthélémy (born August 5, 1988 in Briançon ) is a former French cross-country skier .

Career

From 2004 to 2009, Barthélémy mainly took part in the cross-country Alpine Cup. She completed her first World Cup race in December 2006 in La Clusaz , which she finished in 57th place in the 15 km mass start race. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2008 in Mals , she won silver in the 10 km mass start race and gold in the sprint. She got her first World Cup points in December 2008 in Düsseldorf with 19th place in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , she finished 52nd in the 15 km skiathlon race and 22nd place in the sprint. At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , she came 61st place in the 10 km freestyle. The Tour de Ski 2010/11 she finished in 20th place overall. She reached ninth place in the prologue race and just barely missed the podium in the sprint with fourth place. Several top ten placings followed during the season, including sixth place in the Liberec sprint.

Her best placings at the following Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo were 13th place with the relay and seventh place in the sprint. She finished the season in 23rd place in the overall World Cup ranking, 25th in the distance ranking and 20th in the sprint ranking. At the beginning of the following season, she could not repeat her strong performances from the previous season. She finished the 2011/12 Tour de Ski on a weak 61st place in the overall standings. After a one-month break from competition, she achieved her best result in a World Cup race in February 2012 in Szklarska Poręba with fourth place in the sprint. In preparation for the following season, she broke her ankle. The following season she had to pause due to a fatigue fracture in the metatarsus that she sustained during training. In the 2013/14 season she started the Alpencup, which she finished in 14th place overall. She ended her career in May 2014.
